Omegar, sorry to hear about your bad experience. From day one I've had nothing but a razor sharp cut with Palio, a lot better than with the Xikar I used beforehand.

How do the blades feel to you, mine seem pretty sharp. It should be self sharpening so try opening and closing it a few times before cutting to see if that makes a difference.

Sure the blades feel sharp. And they have only cut a couple of dozen cigars at the most. I noticed the anomoly as soon as I started using the Palio cutter though. I put the "dome" shape and bad cut down to the thick metal of the blades, which have a deep chamfer on the edge. As it cuts, and there becomes less resistance on the end of the cigar cap, the cigar rides up the chamfer of the thick metal and cuts "outwards", leaving a high spot in the middle of the cut. It is often pretty ragged there too. Too much for me I'm afraid. I honestly can't call it a quality cut. I'll let the two photos below speak for themselves.

Hey Rod my Cuban crafters began to do that done ragged cut thing so I returned it for replacement, had it down to blunt blades which caused the cigar to ride up as you described, the replacement cuts spot on tho

I brought one of Fleabay, no fancy name, medium size I guess. Try it on the 50+ ring gauges & I think you'll find it a better draw, works for me anyway. I keep it on my keyring so it just appears as a key fob. Useful when travelling. I had my ceramic cutter taken off me & not posted to me from Manchester airport. I think the female concerned thought this was akin to a terrorist act (use of Ceramic) & ditched it.

I have indeed. Yesterday. And I was pretty surprised to have an email straight back from him on Christmas day.
I think that my photos were perhaps a bit of a surprise to him as he rates the Palio cutter pretty highly. But the bottom line, true to form for Mitch from what I gather, is that we are going to sort something out under his no quibble guarrantee.

One can't ask for better service than that.

Hmm, I haven't had any bad experience with a palio cutter myself.....I bought my dad a custom made travel humi 2 years ago and a palio was included in the deal. It has been used regularly since then and even today I do believe it does a better job than my Xikar xi cutter which is double the price. It doesnt look as nice as the Xikar cutter though.

Ah thats great news! Hopefully you will be able to get on a bit better with the new one, and can avoid those dome shaped issues! Let us know how the new one goes!

A surprise packet arrived from C-Gars Ltd a few days ago containing a new Palio Cutter. I was waiting to report until I had cut a few cigars with it, and I am extremely happy to say that five cigars have now had a perfect cut.

I guess that I just had a rare bad one originally.

I am incredibly impressed with the customer service from C-Gars and the manner in which they handled this with zero hassle.
