Great stuff. Practice, practice and watch out for the tin-tops. I always found it good to remember 'right of way' is not so relevant when you are bouncing across the asphalt at 50mph.

My last proper bike was a CBR600 Jelly-mould!

Don't see one on the horizon any time soon

Great stuff Mop. Keep telling yourself that every other road user is out to get you and expect the unexpected.
I've ridden bikes for 36 years and HD's for 25 of them.
I've got scars, lumps and breaks, but I'm still here and I'm not gonna stop until I can't hold the bugger up anymore.
There's nothing better than going for a ride to a good country pub and firing up a cigar with a good pint. Just the one, mind, before someone gets on their high horse!

The BMW (S1000RR) is the one to get.. been thinking of one also, although I can use it over here on the island, TT mountain section/no speed limits! the electronics that this bike has make it a little easy to ride safe at a more spirited pace, be very good for trackdays in the UK

I have a few bikes, it really depends what you want to do as to what bike to have, most bikes will do everything ok but more suited to one thing or another (touring/track days/enduros/cruising etc.) I'll pop a few pics up when I get a chance.

For sure it takes time to ride relaxed with that 6th sense most good bikers have for safety, and to start you need to be very aware of your surroundings, who's behind you, infront and where all the turnings are, and plan for anything unexpected to happen, if you get knocked off, it's irrelevant who is at fault! you need to think for the car driver, always ride in your own comfort zone and get some advance rider training after you pass your test.

It certainly is, but if I had that sort of budget I'd get a few more Cubans first
                    Realistically thinking of an '04/05 R1 or K5 GSX-R 1000.

Both very good, had the first R1, found it a tad too small for me, hard to get behind the screen, even a double bubble. Had a GSXR750 which was a little better room wise, worth finding a minter/low miler, both benifit with the addition of a ohlins rear shock, makes them actually a more plush ride as they come over sprung under damped, which gets worse with age, front fork revalve is a good thing too... if your handy K-tech sell a kit I think...

It's also one of the best-handling and powerful cruisers you can get.
