Back from Cuba

Hola amigos!

Now I've exhausted my Spanish, the wife and I got home last night from our honeymoon in Cuba. What a country, really friendly people, fascinating history and architecture. Went with the Holiday Place and had no issues at all.

We stayed at Hotel de Marquis de San Felipipe y Santiago on Plaza de San Francisco in Old Havana for 4 nights. Beautifully restored hotel with crap air conditioning but otherwise pretty great. Had a tour up to Vinales and a tour through the Trinidad factory and saw cigars being made by them and some farm rolls. Toured the city a bit too, mostly Old Havana which is beautiful.

Moved on to Varadero, Paradisus Varadero was the hotel. Very nice, decent food and good drinks. Went swimming with dolphins which was fun, I have mixed feelings ethically and I never enjoy getting face to face with apex predators but they did lift me up in the air which was amazing!

5 genuine fake Cohiba Siglio VIs (don't ask)
1 Cohiba Esplenido
1 H. Upmann Mag 50
1 Montecristo No 1
And a litre of Havana Club 7 years

Would heartily recommend it to anyone, great experience! Will post some pics when I get them off the camera.

Fantastic venue of course for all botl, I stopped at the Nacional and the bleu at Varadero.

We agreed in advance, she met me whilst I was smoking a Hamlet in a garage (New Year's Eve party, it was traditional don't judge me! Actually it was the end of the tradition because I refused to buy any more)

Mural in Vinales, 18 men spent 5 years of their lives making this...50 years ago. Seriously, this was completed in 1964 and they've maintained it since. That whole cliff would be as green as the border within weeks if they stopped. What a feat!
