Well the box of RyJ's that I got last month have been settling in my humidor and now it was time to smoke one.
Wrapper/draw,
The wrapper was excellent with a slight oil to it, the end cut fine and I light up the foot with a couple of matches. The draw was a tad weak at first bit it soon sorted itself out, not that it was ever difficult to smoke. There was no bitterness that accompanies cigars that have not had time to rest (which I have extensive experience in
).
Smoke,
The smoke was dense and white however it was very smooth and easy when smoked, this is something I find really satisfying in a good cigar.
Taste,
Well I'm no afficionado and usually fail to detect subtle changes so I'd describe this RyJ as being a smooth, subtle creamy leather. Atleast I think it was leather, it's hard for me to nail it down exactly. I'm sure some would have said vanilla as it could have been described as being close to there. However I'm going to stick with the smooth creamy leather.
Burn,
It burnt well for the most part and around the final third it went uneven and went out. I re light as it was just too good not to and it burnt fine afterwards. When resting the cigar let off a small whisp of white smoke and a beautiful subtle creamy scent. I let the cigar die by the time I started feeling the heat from the smoke, so maybe about an inch or more was left.
Conclusion:
This is why I smoke RyJ's, for the relaxation that the easy going nature of the cigar provides. Coupled with a Rum and ginger ale this cigar was a little over an hours worth of pure bliss.
