October 2014 Cigar of the month club

Here's my review from my notes guys.

Wrapper is quite smooth but with small and defined veins and teeth.

Musty wood with leather on the nose. Slight coffee. Distinctly cuban.

Slightly on the soft side firm wise.

Cut it small as I felt the draw would be light and it is.

Grass and mild pepper on the cold draw

Quite light wood on initial draw. Hint of creaminess. Despite being light in strength and flavour, there are heavy woods coming through. Builds up quite a lot after a few seconds of releasing the smoke.

Initial thought may be that it's a Partagas as its tasting heavier than a Monte so far and they where the two I felt it may be before I lit up.

Burn reasonably well initially apart from where it burnt under the wrapper. Corrected itself readily though.

A lovely mixture of dark and light ash with thick grey smoke.

An inch in this is a very savoury smoke. Strength is picking up now. Earthy heavy woods, dry and even a tad salty.

Just over an inch in I got a reasonable nicotine kick so be warned. (Took a break to consume some sugar)

So after a re light and a purge the draw has tightened up and the flavours mellowed slightly.

It's quite bitter on the lips and I noticed even this early on there's s lot of tar build up on the cut. So a quick cut to remove it but still a little bitter. Unfortunately after another two cuts and another half inch I'm done for im afraid just too bitter for me which is a shame as there is some pleasant flavours in there.

Thank you very much for organising this Mo. Even though I didn't really enjoy it I appreciate it and happy to be part of the experience. Least it's one smoke I know I won't enjoy.

My guess is a Partagas P2

        Enjoy guys!

Bloody good review and great photos, I think I'll stick to just words with mine rather than go up against them!

Decided to smoke the cigar of the month and I'm sure I know what it is because its identical to the one Sean sent me in the pass. It smelt rich and delicious unlit with a hint of pepper tickling my nose hairs. The cold draw was perfect and it lit easily. At first I was quite enjoying it but then it went out. And five minutes later it went out again. And again. This stick obviously needed more attention than I was giving it and just to make its point started burning down the side. Then I got a little hint of something I didn't like so I purged it and found a hole in the side. I persisted for a while but then gave it up. I still haven't find a Partagas I like.

I'll be christening the shed with mine tonight, however I don't thing it's a Partagas as it's absolutely identical to another I was bombed.

No lengthy review from me, other than to say that I really enjoyed this months and I hope that it's a Dippy 2 as I have another in my humi and side by side I couldn't tell the difference (hence the guess) and would like to smoke another.

Like PeeJay I had issues with it going out every time the ash dropped, relit it 3 times then called it quits the 4th time with a couple of inches to go, but it certainly took nothing away from my enjoyment.
