  • Good things come to those who wait...

Many thanks Nic, The GM and Siglo II are always welcome.

Have been asked by a few members what cigars you finally sent me and was hoping you would be kind enough to fill in the blanks on the unbanded/custom rolled cigars?

    Many thanks again.

PS...Nic also sent a large chocolate cigar which I am afraid did not last long enough to take a picture!

    • Nice, weird though, the pic makes the unbanded sticks look computer generated and superimposed! Might just be me...

The small cigar is a country cigar rolled by a guy called Nico who I met on a tour of a tobacco farm in Vinales, he rolled it himself and taught me that cigars can be left or right handed depending on which half of the wrapper leaf is used. The tobacco is not from a Vega Fina farm but the cigar is now almost 16 months old and ready for smoking. This is the sort of cigar you will see the locals smoking.

The long Lancero was rolled for me by Santos the roller at the Commodoro hotel in Havana. A Canadian friend (and infrequent visitor here of the Military persuasion) put me onto Santos and when I was in Havana (on business!!!) in Feb I popped in on my first day and ordered 15 of these and collected them 5 days later. I smoked one fresh and it was "most acceptable". His blend is mild to medium and just suits me. This cigar is 'sick' right now and I have advised JW to put it aside until August. I still have 13 of these beauties resting in my humidor, roll on summer!

The last cigar is based on the Cohiba 1966 and it was rolled for me in Havana when I was there in October (again on business!!!). They are lovely, dark & oily and ready to smoke now. Drewmidornier and Robusto and I shared one each of these at a recent winter herf at mine and they are stunningly good. Unfortunately I am down to my last 60 of them now.

          • Wow, worth that wait I'd say. The one based on the 1966 looks good enough to eat!
