I don't smoke in our new car because of the kids, and I am not allowed to drive for a year so that cuts down the time I spend in the car.
Before the kids when I had my 82 Granada there was little more thrilling than powering along the motorway with a lovely big stick. Used to just feel so right driving that beast and smoking a decent cigar. Good times, sadly due to rust and virility I cannot indulge any more.
I haven't smoked in a car since I quit the tabs about 12 years ago....I don't think I'd want cars to reek of smoke the next day as pleasant as cigar smoke is even when a day or so old
I also love to be relaxing whilst smoking ie nothing involving any sort of physicality at all. I don't even like walking about with a smoke....feet up, sitting down, nice drink = Bliss!
Unfortunately, I legally cannot smoke in my car.........
My car is a company vehicle but they allow full private use and never moan about what we use it for other than work.....but it does mean that it is classed as an enclosed place of work as I could be carrying my co workers and as such it is illegal to smoke in it (even if I am on my own).
Bit of a bind as I can cover between 40,000 and 60,000 miles a year
I thought this bit may get me out of it......
"Therefore, smoking will be prohibited in all vehicles which
are used primarily for business purposes by more than one
person. Vehicles used primarily for private purposes or for
business purposes only by the driver are exempt and
employees can smoke in those vehicles."
But..........they say that carrying a passenger once in a company car in its life means that it is not solely used by me and hence I cannot smoke in it...
I never do. Nothing 'snobby' about this or wanting to keep my upholstery fresh, I just think the space is too confined even with the windows open to smoke. So, I've a totally clean ashtray and a cigar lighter that's never used.
Am I alone?
Get yourself a convertible my good man, easy to smoke then. My Mazda mx5 is my car, the xzara picasso is the family car, so no problem with me smoking in it.
I started out with nothing and i've still got most of it left - Seasick Steve
My car is the companies so that out of the question. As for the convertible idea The gf has a 330ci convertible - it might happen in that when hell freezes over......
