  • Can you smell something...?

So my little home office has a rather pleasant aroma of cigars about it. All well and good, but this makes me wonder about the seals on the humidors!

They are not losing humidity over the weeks. In fact at the moment they are a little more humid than I'd prefer.

    Is this normal?

how many times a day / hour do you open the doors to check that they are all still there? This may have a bearing on it!

Well with my hygrometer transmitters I don't open them daily. But at the moment average every couple of days they get a check. As I've jiggled things around a bit.

That could have a bearing I suppose...

I've never noticed any smell escaping and I've got five traditional wooden humidors in the spare room. Try the torch test when its dark.

Put a small torch inside your humidor in a dark room and if light is escaping then humidity is likely to as well

Make sure the torch is electric and not like those ones in the mummy returns.

on a simpler level... I dont suppose you have a bin full of postage materials from cigar deliveries? these tend to have an aroma which can linger...

Ok it's obvious this morning. These trays were all in the humidors and cabinet. So the source is right under my nose!
