  • Newbie Question (Probably Stupid One)

    Hi,
Searched the net but couldn't find a definitive answer on this one, King Edward Cigars - are you supposed to cut them or not? Had them in the past and got given a box recently and they always have a small hole in the end but always seem a bit tight.

Also, as I dont have a cutter would a razor blade (double edge type) be sufficient to cut them with if required?

    Thanks.

If the draw through the small hole isn't to your liking then you can always cut the cap more. In terms of using a razor blade - yes, I always use a razor blade.

Do I detect a hint of snobbery creeping into this thread?

haven't smoked one in years , but never had a problem not cutting it , a sharp razor blade will work just fine

Not necessarily snobbery, King Edwards are not to everyone's taste. Nothing wrong with enjoying one though, I would personally reach for a Henri Wintermans in preference if I was smoking OTC.

I have been given King Eddies by well meaning friends & I accept them gratefully & put them away in the deepest recesses of my tackle store. I used to smoke them pre-pruo days & enjoyed then it has to be said but I may be wrong here but the wrapper looks so awful these days, I have to wonder if they have changed over the yrs or whether I thought that was normal way back then.
It's not snobbish not to want to smoke what you no longer enjoy. As we know smoking doesn't do us much good physically & in the unlikely event (as a low volume cigar smoker) I get a smoking related illness; I want to know I enjoyed everyone & then accept the consquences.
