So has anyone stored different ring size cigars in a desktop humi, My humi is showing 65 at one side and 62 at the other it seems that the larger ring size cigars are lowerIng the humidity.i am using a heartfelt beads tube 65%.
Any ideas?
Can you post up a picture of your desk top..might give us a better idea..& of course how long have you been set up & when & how many of the larger RG's did you put in & all at once or a few at a time...etc. etc....
I have attached pics above,
the humi has been used for about a year now and normally stays at 65% with just the HF beads tube and smaller ring cigars.
the cigars are normally only in there for a week or two before they get smoked
i added all the brick house cigars at once about a week ago
i have tried moveing the hydrogemeters over to see if one was out it was not.
i have put the round humidifier in to see if that helps level it out it has polymer crystals in it.
i would be greatfull for any thoughts you and other members may have.
Blimey..it's a poser!
You've tried most things, only thing left is to swap the cigars over left to right..if the lower RH moves with it, it must be the Brickhouse still absorbing...use your photo as a ref; for accuracy.
May need more beads?
sorry to go off topic but there is a good mixture of cigars there, are the brickhouse any good they are on my "to try in 2013" list (along with loads more, the list is getting really long lol)
Echoing Puffs thoughts (as i just noticed his post as I'm replying) my guess on this one is that the grills where the hygros take in the moisture for reading is at the rear/sides of the units. With the big brick house sticks in that corner, they've likely 'sucked' out the moisture from the previously seasoned humidor wood in that corner.
Hello TJ...he's checked them against each other....
Doh! Upon closer inspection of the pictures, I see that you do have two digital hygros in your unit, so that's good.
As far as the cause of the discrepancy, I suppose it could be do to the larger ring sticks in your box, which should be only temporary, but from my experience with static desk-top units, I find the humidity tends to vary within the box. but I wouldn't worry about a difference of a few percentage points, as long as it's within 65 to 70 percent.
But that's just me.
Names Boy, Bag Boy and I prefer forced-air humidifying devices.

Brick house mighty mighty huge cigar takes hours to smoke and plenty of flavor, the smaller ones i find average.
