Well said monkey! If we ever reach a stage where the Union Flag is symbolizes the BNP rather than the UK then the BNP will have gained too much influence.

Now, the St George's Cross on the other hand... A symbol of religious oppression through the ages.

I too apologise for adding to the political comments...

PS. Totalmente a mano!!! I might use it as my signature if it's knocked off the banner.

I've been dipping in and out and there's some great work going on here

#6 is getting there, but what about an amalgamation of ideas re the band design? Just a thought, although they are both good in their own rights.

I think the box seal needs moving up a tad so as to cut off at centre of the crest, as per a real box. We wouldn't want anyone thinking this thing was fake

          honour not dented

I like the red design too! Maybe some elements of both would work?

I really like the cedar whole page background.

I only chipped in initially with the comments to Deano re the site design in the hope of (with the modesty of a newbie) improving it, in all honesty the more ideas the merrier!

Knock all your collective heads together, and I'm sure between us all we can help Deano et al, to improve the look of the forums.

I shouldn't be so feeling so magnanimous, I just smoked half a Nicaraguan bundle cigar (gifted) and gave up half way through, was a bit like smoking an old trainer, feel quite light headed.

          Never again!

I agree, viva la Union Jack!

To quote that great Mancunian philosopher, Steven Patrick Morrissey

"I've been dreaming of a time when
To be English is not to be baneful
To be standing by the flag not feeling
            Shameful, racist or partial"

We even got some 'racist' stick from the postman re our beautiful Union Jack doormat!
I was a paid up member of the anti-nazi league for years, cheeky bloody postie.

I also like what Hencore has done.
Maybe a bit too red for my liking but I love the cedar background. I suspect the logo would need shrinking as it takes a lot of screen real-estate.

I wonder how we could integrate David's stuff into a cedar background?

I wonder how you'd make the cedar into a background image? Needs to be small and repetitive for speed reasons.

                    Cedar Pattern

Cor blimey, I haven't created a repeating pattern tile in nearly 8 years.
(use very different methods for traditional websites, but forums seem to be very different, VB included)

See how this works? Is it acceptable, I would probably like to spend a little more time on the detail, just tell me what you think?

Good effort mate! It does tile but due to the nature of wood and the size of the tile its still easy to spot each square.

Only things I could think of that might help would be to make the title 2x1 or 1x2 wide which gives you a bit extra to play with and try and keep hard lines/features to a minimum.

                        Take 2 of Background

Would you cast your eye over this one, Hencore?

I'm working on two similar things and this at the mo, think I've gone pattern blind!

                        Time for a smoke.

I think that one has lost the appearance of wood.

I hope you don't mind the constructive criticism, making a small tiling image of something like wood is a pretty difficult and I'm not saying I can do any better. I'll have an attempt as well though but your first one might be the one to use.

                            Here's my attempt.

I mocked both your first one and mine and I think they both work quite well! It's really hard to make them look perfect on their own but used behind objects and the repetition is easier to hide.

Keep it up lads. It really is coming along rather well.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Big fan of this--perhaps we could add the earlier "stamp" to it?
