I had a Royal Marine friend who always laughed at the army's drills in the field, he said it was easy exercising with the army, just wait for night, whip out the night vision goggles and look for all the tabs like beacons in the night highlighting your positions lol.

We used to have one room on board that you could smoke in but when the government ban came in it went out of bounds. It was funny watching all the smokers hitting the nicotine patches on the first dive and the first time we surfaced they all headed to the conning tower and smoked for Britain. Second time was even better as they only got one chance to be helped off cigarettes although cold turkey trapped in a metal tube full of smokers did get a bit tense at times lol.

How about meeting in Gib. You're only talking a few quid more for the flight as the hotel's are quite cheap. You'd save a fortune buying cigars too...

That's a good idea Deano.... If CA can do a deal on the hotel etc, would help some of the BOTL with tighter budgets, it's more of a special event then, arranged early would be better for the flight prices... lets get a date penciled in...

Chri Gib Is a good idea, but if we swap the tanks for a round of golf we could be in business.
            Or even fishing ?

It was soul destroying to do my CLM (command, leadership and managment) course last month being taken by an Inf CSgt who was 29...only plus side is if I do my Bandmaster's course (3 year cse!) I could go as a LCpl and come out as a WO1!
              Congrats on the promotion

As for the KRH. I was on Iron Anvil with 26 Engineers LAD in BATUS and some of the KRH boys were on the AT package I went on. A fairly decent set of guys, if a bit wild on the horses

That was in '01 We were out on the prairie when 9/11 happened and rumours of what had happened started to trickle out. Nobody could believe it. Never saw the TV footage until we got back into camp to do a pack change on a CVRT (petrol). As you know, all flights stopped, including ours with all spares on board.

I'd be happy to meet up with anyone, just as long as I'm not working. Shift work is such a pain for social networking.

Tank museum is cool remember going there when I was a kid, also always wanted to go to sub museum.

                    Let me know.
