It is a shame the Retailers section is being closed so people know whom is a good retailer or not, whom has legit product, post their experiences etc. And the only comprehensive one on the net. It was a good resource but if you have to protect yourself legally then so be it.

Is a shame.

I don't believe freedom of speech is the issue. We all have freedom of speech but what one says can still potentially break the law. If you do it on someone's forum then they may be construed as potentially breaking the law as well.
In most countries anything written on a web based format is considered a 'published document' and is subject to all the associated legal ramifications.
It is a shame to loose the resource but one would imagine it is reasonable for the forum management to take steps to ensure the forum is not used for (or encourages) any potentially illegal activity.
I guess we can be thankful that we don't have the same responsibilities and potential liabilities as the forum owners.
Just one of those things we are going to have to get used to, and move on from.
That's a shame. Although, I have just registered. The "where to buy section" was a wonderful resource, and kept me from being ripped off. As far as I know it was the only resource of it's kind where all the different retailers were listed/reviewed.
I can understand all reasons for not discussing foreign sources for cigars and I agree.
What is the rule regarding posting of information regarding actual brick and mortar shops in other countries?
For example, "While I was in Barcelona, I found XXXX to have a decent selection".

Personally, can't see a problem with this, as (a certain qty) of cigars/tobacco are allowed to be purchased in foreign countries and brought back for personal consumption...
But we'd better wait to see what the boss says...!?!
I thought I already made it clear, the for sale section, the where to buy section, the continuing discussions on customs etc, was all getting out of hand, and it will only serve to be a legal minefield for me and the mods, thus we're simply getting rid of all discussion regarding non-UK retailers.
There is no discussion to be had, unless you're a lawyer, we're covering our backs, as I'm sure you all would in a similar situation.

are we still allowed to post pics of "new in the post " as long as the retailer is not mentioned and any postage labels from said retailers are obscured.
