shippams make fake potted salmon and beef (and probably potted other things but I cant remember them), I remember when I was young we used to get shippams potted beef and the pot had a layer of fat on top, I got a tub last year and it had no fat and not taste either, it needed half a bottle of hp to give it some taste!!
and yes puff I am too young, only 38 but was brought up on what some would call old fashioned food, things like tripe (including all the different types wessand,elder and the other bits) potted beef, neck of mutton at least once a week, also my mum was manager of fishmongers I worked there as one of my many school jobs, but at the end of the day if I was working with my mum I was given a bag with what ever fish was left and still fresh and I would go around the other market traders and swap for anything they had left too, veg, beef ,lamb fruit, allsorts! it was how all the traders did their shopping back then, mr health and safety would have none of that now!
