Just for the record, and so that everyone is clear. I am a member of four Cigars Forums. This, two other open forums and an Invites Only Forum. I make no secret of this and never have.
I am not a Moderator on any Forum, neither Cigars, Gardening, Automobile or Napoleonic, and would never want to be. I cannot give the time, am not inclined to gangs or politics, nor would I want the responsibility of the position. By whatever process of osmosis any suggestion that I am a Moderator (anywhere) has been passed to this Forum is incorrect.
During the two years that I have been a member of the Invites Only Forum I have extended four invites. Two from this Forum and two from another. In all four cases those members have remained active on their parent forums and are respected in those communities. I am not a recruiting sargent for the Invites Only Forum and do not extend invites lightly. I invite only if, a) I believe that the invitee will benefit from the invitation, remembering there are things which cannot be discussed or quickly or easily discussed by PM or, b) if by their location, level-headedness or specific area of interest they will provide a unique benefit to the Invite Only Forum. I use the PM on this Forum to talk to numerous people, many of whom I have come to regard as friends. To these I have never mentioned other Forums because there has never been a need to do so. I perceive them as being knowledgeable, self-sufficient and content as they are.
I do not apologise for making those invites, nor will I promise not to do the same again in the future, and by the same token, nor would I not invite BOTL over to the UKCF if I felt it was correct to do so. I try to abide by the Rules of all the Forums I belong to, and will defend my right to belong to as many Forums as I wish and would defend the right of others, including UKCF Mods, to do the same.
I do not measure the worth of forums by numbers. In my observation the posting count of Members does not drop off by consequence of membership of several Forums and many cases the reverse appears to be true. My response posting on UKCF has not diminished and my memberships
elsewhere have not prevented me from initiating my fair share of Threads.
Lastly and most disturbingly. I do not, other than in gest (and usually only TJ , El Cat, Eggy or Auss) bad-mouth or make snide comment about anyone Mod or Member on any Forum. It isn?t my way, and to anyone wishing to level that accusation .... make it now.
I am not looking for support, nor am I trying to be contentious or broardcast Forum discontent.
