I was going to provide a long, rambling account of what I hope someone can help me with. As it is, I thought it would be easier to show you, rather than try and describe the concept...

    Crewseekers

The link above is to a website which is designed to put people who need yacht crews in touch with people who want to crew. Cracking website, I've used it myself quite a bit and managed to get some great sailing with good people as a result.

Anyway, does anyone know if there is an off-the-shelf package which essentially gives you a template to run this type of website? Where people can fill in their details etc. and have them automatically added to a searchable database? I'm trying to think how to go about putting together a website which works on the same principles (though nothing to do with sailing).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you get some kind of application installer with your webspace? I've got Installatron on mine-maybe some kind of adverts/classifieds software or a shared calendar maybe? Could you do it with Google Calendar?

I'm not sure about off the shelf but that isn't particularly difficult.

A form that when submitted inserts the detail's into a database table. Then another page that prints out each row or the rows that match the search query. Obviously that's at its most simplest form and I'd imagine you'd want more than that.
