    Raspberry PI

    Been quiet a bit of chatter over the last little while about computers and wondered how many of us own one of these.
    Maybe put up what projects we have managed with them. When I first read about them my thoughts went straight to some over the top controls for humidity and temperature of a humidor with a HD cam mounted to view your stock wherever you are on your mobile. Maybe some sort of menu displaying exactly what you have in and "booking" them out so list stays up to date. I did say over the top didn't I lol

    Well I ordered one a bit back but haven't had time to play with it yet so if anyone already knows what they are doing with them lest hear it.

    For those on mobiles the title is "Raspberry PI"

    I have one, soon to be a few more. I got the original model B.

    Up to now it's been an XBMC media centre, a retro games console and is currently a headless High res audio receiver for my HiFi through a USB DAC.

    I had similar but less grand thoughts about humidity and temperature control, but I haven't got around to anything yet.

    Im still trying to find time to learn Python, but that's not happening fast.

      Other projects I have throughout about are a "Movie Boombox" basically a ghetto blaster with a pico laser projector and a soundbar so you can take a movie jukebox with you to friends houses etc and project films on the wall.

      A telemetry system to measure the depth of water in wells that alarm at a given point by sending a gsm message.

      A wifi controlled coffee machine.

      An audio sampler to sound in response to input from drum pads and key strokes.

        Got one of these for xmas, haven't had time to play around with it yet.

        My plan is to turn it into a PSX emulator and load it full of games. Perfect to stick in my hand luggage to take offshore with me. Providing the cabin has a HDMI port on the tv obviously. Maybe have another memory card with SNES, N64 and Mega Drive on it.

          I've got one. I used to use it as media centre, but after I bought chromecast I started using it as experimental platform. I am planning to configure M/MUMPS database for fun this weekend.
          Three Laws are:

                Hi wigan how did this project go?

                Have been thinking about something similar...haven't started or got anywhere with it yet

                I was thinking of a coolidor/scub and then try and create a heating cooling system using a peilter and rpi which can be attached.

                Seems doable...and fairly cheap.

                      I use one as a proxy cache as we are out in the sticks and have 3mb max broadband so it helps when the updates come out as it saves the large file and there is no need to download it again on all the computers or IOS devices.
