Oh dear, its not looking good. If there's a backup of content maybe wipe that sucker out then start again? Or you could go to the IT "professionals".

I'm one of those who believe that things should just work. I don't know or want to know how to persuade a machine that it does want to work today. I want to be able to abuse it with... Uhum.... Questionable internet use and it survive. I hate it when things go wrong.

Contingencies are one of the keys of life, Tommy.
Perhaps it's just the Scientist in me, but I love knowing how things work. Not just out of knowledge, but also because in case something faults, you can attempt fixes yourself.

Ah if you cant get in to bios it could be because legacy support is not enabled. Is there a ps2 port try that one. Are you pressing the delete or f2 or f1 key as soon as you switch the pc on, just keep tapping the key one at a time, start with the del key. If any windows menus or logo is displayed its gone past the bios.
start again this time try the next key.
once in bios use the curser keys to move around, some newer boards will allow the mouse to be used.
find the boot order and put the cd drive first.

Thanks senor Mo...I think we are making progress. Tapping the delete key got me into the bios. From there, I rearranged the boot order so that the DVD drive with the Windows 7 disk boots first. I restarted the PC and the Windows 7 disk successfully loaded and I selected the "repair" option. Now the screen pictured below has been up for 5 plus minutes with no action.
Should I continue to wait or start over?

Okay, this is what I'm looking at now. I don't understand because I am using the same disk that was used to load Windows 7 Professional on the PC.
Any ideas?

Yeah, no doubt my PC has been updated to the latest SP. I believe the lastest is SP 2 (yes/no?) and the original Win7 disk is probably SP 1. I guess if I had another PC with Win7 SP2 I could make a recover disk from that. But alas, I don't have such a PC.
Any other ideas, mates....or is it time to take it in for repairs?

I will see if I can get inot safe mode. Do I need to change the boot order to the original order first?
UPDATE: I reset the boot order to the original order (c drive first) and tried to get into safe mode, but with the same results as I mentioned before (I think): the screen scrolls for a few seconds and stops here (see pic)
