  • Greetings from Greece.

I salute the fellow pipe smokers, i am Sid.Stavros and i live in Athens. I saw in a Google search this forum and tonight i decide to enlist. English is not my prime language, i am self-taught so don't expect long posts from me.
I am not a Pro, i don't sell or promote anything about pipes, i am just a hobbyist who likes to modify his pipes and takes photos from local Cafe. I have a blog and a Youtube channel for this reason and maybe some pipe smokers know me from other forums. In the past i was a cigar smoker but latter i turned to pipes but in the future i will start to smoke a cigar from time to time. In the past i was member in two UK forums but unfortunately here hacked and thousands of post were gone.
Thank you for your hospitality, best regards from Athens-Greece.

PS: we had a habit in the 70's back in my homeland and i still have it today at 2025, at 5 o'clock it time for tea (nowaday it's Lord Nelson Earl Gray).

Welcome Stavros. No pipe for me. But cigars yes.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Welcome to the United Kingdom Cigar Forum sir. It’s a rare pleasure to smoke a pipe in this day & age, well done keeping up the tradition.

Welcome to this forum, Sid.Stavros. Great to know that there are still some pipemen around to carry on this tradition. It will be interesting to hear about your introduction to pipe and cigar smoking. What are your favourite pipes, pipe tobaccos and cigars?
        Best wishes, Marc

          Welcome.

I enjoy a pipe on some of those cold, damp winter nights when i can't face half an hour or more outside but quarter of an hour with my pipe is just about bearable.

          Look forward to your posts.

Welcome our Greek brother 🇬🇷. Always have memories of our neighbour smoking a pipe when I was younger & thinking the aroma from them was such a nice smell. Yet to try one, but I've heard flavours are plentiful

Welcome, know nothing about pipes apart from they smell nice, and take too much effort apparently, cigars are so much easier

I was smoking cigars many years ego, no internet those days so my purchases were limited and with price for about 5-10 euros per piece (today's prices, back then we had Drachmas), H.Winterman/White Owl/Don Antonio/Davidoff/Dominicos are those that i remember but now there are too many options and in the future i have ''a lot of work'' in front of me.
As for pipe tobaccos i like Latakia (but it's heavy for inside smoking), Black Cavendish and Aromatics (Vannila for the Cafe, Brandy etc). I don't like Virginia, they bring sourness to me.

I don't know if the rules of this forum allow me to suggest a cigar-shop because all of them have an e-shop too with their name.
In some forums it's strictly forbidden for a member to make such a mention.

it’s OK if you are travelling to another country and want a recommendation to purchase whilst there.

In the “Cigar Travel” section of the forum there are lots of threads on where to purchase when travelling abroad.
