...a Yorkshire lad here
Up until about 5 years a go I was a cigarette smoker. I went cold turkey the day my first lad was born (I now have 3)
I've been threatening the Wife that I need to chill out haha for a while now, and fancied giving cigars a go. She's not happy, thinks it'll turn into a bad habit.
We went to the CLA Game Fair earlier this year and there was a lovely set up called 'Robusto House Cigars'.
My Gaffer wanted a couple of cheap cigars picking up, so I got myself one too. I bought some Crystalis'.
That night I tucked the trouble and strife up in bed then got myself settled on the decking. I have to say, an hour or so later after smoking it I was sat back and nicely relaxed, it helped that I had NOTHING else to do or to worry about.
The Wife must have noticed...she went out and bought me some more cigars, Hamlets. They were HORRIBLE. I've also tried some Wintermans Petit Corona's, but I wasn't very keen at all.
I found somewhere local that sells decent cigars, so I've since had another Crystalis, and also a La Paz Gran Corona. I liked both of these, particularly the Gran Corona
On our recent trip to Scotland there were more places to buy cigars than I could have wished for, including The Cigar Box on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh.
I ended up with a Romeo Y Julieta No3, I didn't enjoy this one at all.
I have a Partagas and a Jose L.Piedra still stashed and waiting for me to find the time to enjoy them. I understand these are better than the Crystalis and Gran Corona
I guess you could class me as an unrefined, irregular and budget smoker. I find it hard to get a spare minute, let alone an hour, and I would rather have a nice bottle of Ale than glass of Whisky (although not unheard of) next to me.
Hopefully I'm going to pick up some good advice from the people on this forum.
It's not a bad habit like the Wife would think...more of an enjoyable passtime
