So obviously the name is Kev , just in case anyone had not worked that out yet . Just turned 50 about 3 weeks back or so . Been a lazy bersted since I was 35 which involves doing the bucket list before the money runs out and I have to go back to work . Quit cigarettes at 35 , always smoked cigars since I was about 18 but currently probably own more than I have ever smoked all put together after a trip to Cuba with family . Married . Had some great help so far and its much appreciated , due to family illness life becomes a tad more complicated for the next 3 months but will still be dropping in . Really enjoyed all the cigars I smoked in Cuba which were R&J Churchills , about 8 cohiba's various sizes and a several others that I did not catch the name of due to the sound of rum ringing in my ears .

Oh and totally obsessed , if my wife is to believed , by WWII aircraft . She oft complains she lives in a museum .

Fyi my uncle was CO 617 tornados squadron wing commander Peter Day . Also in the red arrows when I was a small child loved going to biggin hill and meeting them all behind the scenes

A shelf with items relating to the sinking of the Tirpitz , my mothers brother took part in 2 of 3 the raids , including the one that eventually sank The Beast and was later KIA with 617 Sqn in March ' 45 .

Yes and no . It takes hours and hours to research bits to make the display and find them and buy them and put the shelves together . The models though are all ( or mostly ) pre-made , I do have a guy who makes some for me but 90% are diecast . Your are correct though , if I had made them I hate to think of the man hours .

It was amazing as a child , didn't get to see him much really as an adult so don't remember too much about him , but strange really as I was only talking about him this afternoon with my parents . I drink my beer out of my silver christening mug , which was a gift from him as my godfather a fact I was unaware of until today .

So did I , well until I became about 13 I guess and realized I was totally crap at it . I have a fairly large collection of Dragon armor in 1:72 and three of those monster Forces of Valor 1:6 tanks but the missus has drawn a line and they remain in their ammo crates . Corgi started the Aviation Archive in 1998 which really saved the day as occasionally I convince myself I am not that bad at making models , start one and find that indeed I am still rubbish .

Advantage with die cast , not as fragile .
Always had a real fascination with military history , mainly literature though have quiet a collection.

Here is a picture of one of the cabinets as I started to change the display around 6 months ago , on top is the Hatchette 1:32 Lancaster which took ( someone else ) two years to build .
