  • Hi All, Another new smoker here looking to see what i can learn.

    Hello,

Just a quick one to introduce myself. I'm Pete, 24 from Essex (don't hold this against me).

Very new to Cigar smoking, smoked my first approx 3 weeks ago. First i went with a H. Upmann Junior Corona that i found in Asda, was a complete disaster if i'm honest. I started by torching the wrapper rather that toasting the foot, and then the draw on the blasted thing was terrible. Not wanting to give up that easily i got another, this time the draw was great, the taste was okay but, i cant say i could pick out all of the flavours i have seen people talk about in the forums, but im sure that will come in time.

My third cigar was a RyJ No.2 that i bought from Waitrose, was a real treat i have to say, again i couldn't really pinpoint the flavours i was getting to start with but i was enjoying it none the less, about 2 thirds through i was really starting to enjoy the smooth creamyness.

Had my fourth today while sitting out in the sun with a book, a Monte Petit Tubo also from Waitrose. I have to say that i didn't really enjoy this one as much as the RyJ, it tasted harsher and felt a bit dry if i'm honest.

I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction of something that might suit a beginner? Also it would be nice to know if there is anywhere in Essex that sells a decent stick?

Also, i purchased a small Humi for my brother and myself. Does anyone have any advice on what to use in there? I have read a few things about crystals/beads, are there any specific products that people recommend?

Right i'm going to stop now before i blow my complete question load in one sitting.

Look forward to hearing from people.

    Pete

Hi Pete, as mentioned, give c.gars.co.uk a visit (just click on the banner at the top) they have some excellent samplers and the service is second to none. Welcome to the forum

              Welcome Pete,
Essex born-and-bred myself, so no further apologies needed...as long as you've not got a pair of white stilettos on!
Now the big question; are you East London Essex or Country Bumpkin Essex...

I've been checking out checking out Cgars a fair bit, they seem to be reasonably priced compared to some of the others. I did order some RyJ 1875 Churchills from Famous-Smoke as they were fairly cheap, hopefully they will be of a decent standard. Does any recommend a particular sampler?
