Hi from North London

Hi

I’m a 31 year old soon to be osteopath (well in 4 weeks I hope). For the past year or so I’ve been getting into Cuban cigars. So far I’ve got myself a 25-30 capacity humidor, a butane jet lighter and a nice dobule guillotine cutter.

In terms of the cigars I have tried and in order of preference are….

Montecristo No 2
Montecristo No 4 / 3
Diplomaticos No 4
Bolivar Petit Coronas (1 was very good, 1 was very bad, burn was terrible on the both tho)
Romeo y Julieta Petit Coronas
H. Upmann Petit Coronas (found this a boring cigar, not much of anything)
Partagas Petit Coronas Especiales (thought this was horrible, not taste, very mild, but a strong aftertaste)
I’ll soon have delivered
Carlos Torano Dominicos Robustos
Grand Nica Corona

At this stage I have 8 or so Monte 4’s and a few Monte 2’s in the humidor….

Three bits of (possibly useless) advice strike me:

1) You'll be needing another humidor soon (assuming you're an obsessive compulsive like the rest of us).
Make sure you buy one that's bigger than you think you'll ever need.

2) Try a Partagas Serie D No. 4 when you get the chance. It's an excellent 'benchmark' cigar.

3) Resist the urge to smoke non cubans (they make you go blind*)

Looks like you have dipped your toes well and truly!

If you like the Petit Corona size then you can't go far wrong with a Trinidad Reyes, Ramon Allones Small Club Corona or a Cohiba Siglo I.

I've not tried many Non Cubans but am partial to the odd Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Perfecto.

Well on my first bit of advice from the forum..... I've got a Ramon Allones Small Club Corona on it's way. I will go no smaller on cigar size, but I do want to try one.

I do like bigger cigars like the Monte 2's..... only my bank balance dosn't .

Arghhhh bad days in the my cigar world!

1st had a monte 2 yesturday.... it was BAD
2nd I've been waiting for 10 days for a cutter and lighter from C.GarsLtd.. the cutters come after having loads of issues with them... but now no lighter! in the parcel
