  • Hello from Herts!

    Hi Guys,

My names Paul. I've been snooping around the forum for a month or so now and have been reading various topics with great interest so I thought it was about time I said hello.

I've enjoyed the odd cigar from time to time over the last few years but this year have really started getting into everything that goes with the hobby from buying a humidor to learning how to properly cut and light a fine Cuban. Over recent weeks I've sampled, Punch petit corona, H, Uppman petit coronation, Trinidad Reyes (I know there are a lot of fans of these on here but so far it's been my least favourite), Cohiba Siglo I, something that was recommended to me by a gentleman at Fox's in St. James which I thoroughly enjoyed in there smoking lounge and wish I could remember the name of, and I have a Don Ramos lined up for this evening. Does anyone have any suggestions of any other must try cigars for a new smoker?

Something I have been wondering is if different cigars will influence each others flavour when stored next to each other in a small humidor or should I try to keep different sticks separated?

I'm looking forward to becoming a more active member of the forum and making use of the great advice available here.

    Hello and welcome Paul.

As you rightly gathered, there are a lot of Trini Reyes fans on here, as a general rule I find they need some age on them, Trinidads can be very harsh/rough if smoked too young. The Siglo I is a lovely stick also.

As far as storing different brands together, I tend to put cedar dividers between, the cedar strips you get in boxes (the thin pieces that lay on the top when you open the box) are ideal to divide small amounts.

As for other smokes to try, sticking with the Petit Corona size I'd go for a Ramon Allones Small Club Corona, San Cristobal El Principe, Montecristo No5 & Partagas Shorts.

I've yet to try a Don Ramos and would love to hear your impressions.

Hi and welcome. For me I don't worry about mixing different sticks in the humi.
