Good afternoon everyone, just registered (huge thanks to Deano for fixing the register problems I was seeing) and thought I should say a little hi and introduce myself around.

My name's Marc and I live in Nottingham where I work as a project engineer spending most of my time designing lightning conductors and whole building surge protection systems for projects both in the UK (places such as the Olympic site and various National Trust places) and also abroad, mainly in the Middle East, the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa was one we had some input on.

At the moment I am not a smoker of anything although I played around a little when I was younger but I never got into it. By now you might be asking 'then why are you here?' the simple answer is that I like to find places online which are little getaways from the stress and negativity of a lot of sites and the world in general and it has been my experience that cigar (and pipe) smokers are a 'nice' bunch.

Plus there is a lot of very interesting information on here which I have had many enjoyable hours reading while lurking and who knows, mybe I will be inspired to try a couple of decent cigars at some point soon to see what all the fuss is about

No, seriously, I am thinking about setting up a small humidor (yes I know, never say 'just a small one'.....) as now the weather is starting to warm up a touch I would be able to sit outside a little more often (rented house so no smoking indoors) and wind down at the weekends plus the amount of variables and knowledge in the cigar world with picking the right one, looking after a humidor and so on kinda appeals to the engineer in me.

I am not normally a high volume poster as I prefer the old adage of 'talk little and listen lots', in fact I have been a member on one forum for 9 years and still have less than 600 posts to my name, but I am sure I will find a few topics I can chime in on.

Well, thanks to everyone who managed to sit through my inital ramblings, I am sure this won't be the last.
Lo there do I see my Father. Lo there do I see my Mother, and my Sisters and my Brothers. Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Hey there, great forum this and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

With regard to the humi I was bought a small (25ct) one for Christmas which is already looking a little small.
It's been said in a few threads already and I wish I'd done the same; best advice is to set up a "tupperdore" until you get a feel for how much capacity you may want before spending out on a humi.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, much appreciated.

I think I do need to get a decent cigar at some point just to find out if this is for me. We have (what seems to be) a decent tobacconist here in Nottingham, I have bought the odd Murkur safety razor from there in the past and always feel like I am doing the whole Fred Flintstone walking on my toes following the smell thing when inside so I may have to stop buy and have a chat with them towards the end of the month (yay for pay rise bonuses).
