  • Ahoy there! Fellow travelers

    Hey people ✌️

Compared to you guys I'd honestly say I'm bit of a newbie when it comes to cigars. I've had a few great ones and my fair share of terrible ones but the great ones stay with you, don't they?

On a few occasions I've been lucky enough to have friends come back from Cuba only to crack open a box and hand me one of the great ones. Over the years I've smoked a few the better known brands, Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta.

I've been and on and off social smoker since school. Cigarettes, rolling tobacco, crappy supermarket cigars and the once in a blue moon excellent cigar 💕. I knocked all smoking on the head 2 years ago when my kid was born and didn't miss most of it but a good cigar, I definitely missed 😂.

After becoming a farther my lifestyle changed a fair bit and I've begun appreciated quality over quantity. With the way I spend my down time, the kind of alcohol I drink and this led me to a conclusion: If I'm going to smoke, (which won't be often), it's got to count.

With that in mind I took plunge and ordered a couple of boxes of EP Carrillo Pledge since the reviews sounded great. Now I'm on the hunt for suitable humidor before they arrive. Now I'm knee deep in cigar aging blog posts!

Looking forward to getting to know you chaps on the forum 🤝

Thanks, I feel like 20 will last a life time but time will tell , I'll try to watch out for the CAD, new one on me but makes sense that would happen.

I did start looking at acrylic jars and a Boveda pack maybe for a quick fix. Will take a look at the lock boxes some of them aren't far off the same price.

+1 on the lock nlock boxes & boveda.... bullet proof, and if you jack it all in you can fill em with biscuits!

            welcome! Enjoy!

Welcome! You ordered a couple of boxes of a cigar of reviews? And you don't smoke often, hope you love em! They do look kinda fancy though.

                .--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Welcome. A lot of guys here (me included) have the Lock n Lock boxes mentioned above, but have a small humidor or two for singles to save rummaging under the stairs or wherever; they also look good.

Cheers fellas, lock & lock with a boveda it is. That's probably saved me a few quid and a ton of time reading humidor reviews.

Yeah me too! I started off looking for birthday present for my brother. I settled on the EP Carrillo Pledge which were sellling out fast everywhere. I thought I'll grab few for him and a few for myself, oh and I owe a mate a couple since he's always shelling his out to me, and my step dad.... ok, I need a lot! Sound like the early stages of CAD maybe?

But it is a bit of gamble... guess I'll post a review when they arrive.

Well if the Pledge are anything like the previous EP Carrillo COTY winner in 2018 the Encore Majestic, they will probably improve letting them rest, the Encore get better every time I smoke one

A warm welcome to the forum SunnyJim

I have to agree with others who have mentioned Tupperdors and Boveda packs. I have a couple of air-tight clip lid tubs for when I have overflow or just need to sort through my cigars. Also, it will give you plenty of time to work out which humidor is best for you and your needs. One tip from experience, always get a humidor that is about twice the size you think you need 😎😂

Ah I did hear that, since I have plenty, no harm in trying one striaght out box then bang the rest away to mature a bit.

I actually started off looking at the Majestic orginally but got a bit caught up in the hype of the Pledge winning the 2020 award. Probably a classic noob move.
