Storage will depend on how many cigars you intend on buying. I only got started in 2020 and started off with a small tupperware sealed lock container and a boveda pack. I've had to upgrade to a bigger tupperware container as the other became too full. Cheap and cheerful way to start though...
I can recommend the Partagas D4, I really enjoyed it 👍🏻
You can also cut a torpedo on slightly slanted. Which opens up the cigar up a little a bit like this ...which I had the other day.
Storage wise...most will recommend get the biggest you can afford. A really cost effect one is a lock and lock box with a boveda pack doe a great job...then you can look for a more long term storage option.
Thanks, I’d read about an angled cut to bring out other flavours - one to play around with! The lock box and boveda pack is a great idea, thanks 👍🏼

Hi and welcome!
This is THE font for knowledge and ideas, so enjoy getting stuck in.
Cutting torpedos really depends on the smoker to be fair- if I were you, I’d start with a 5mm+ cut- see how it smokes and how you feel with it.
From there I’d cut higher- depends too on the sticks make up- if it’s tight you may find a larger cut is required.

Agree with the above. A simple maxim: You can't cut less only more, so start with a small cut & increase as required. Everyone has a different idea of the perfect draw & humidity makes a big difference too so try to keep 63-65%.

Welcome aboard! A lot of great advice already, I’d recommend a 50l tupperdor and 2-3 320g 65% Boveda packs. That will be enough to store around 20 boxes so you should be covered for the first few months 😂.
Robustos are a great starting point, loads of variety as just about every brand has this size. I’d personally recommend the Partagas D4, always a solid smoke and can be smoked young unlike some others.
Maybe look at some petit coronas as well, some great smokes and around half the price of a robusto in the UK.
Ah okay, I guess this would achieve a similar outcome to an angled cut? Perhaps another cutter to purchase!
Get a V-cutter by all means, I used to use a V-cut religiously on all my torpedoes/pyramids, but sometimes dependent on the draw, a v-cut can be restrictive in that it concentrates too many flavours and can mask the subtle finish when compared against a straight or angled cut.
