To get all analogous, it was like being in a comfortable, quiet, relaxing bar having a pint and chatting to friends, and then someone uncouthly breaks into the conversation, exclaims they have no knowledge of the subject, and then starts telling people that they're wrong and is rude to boot.

I use that very analogy for posting on forums.
Except, of course, that just about everyone on earth can pick up your comments in the very same bar. Sometimes it pays to think before saying anything.

Not a criticism aimed at anyone on here. Just a truth that I have to remind myself of now and again.

As Aussie said early on, he was probably a wind up merchant, so couldn't we just draw a veil over these incidents, close this thread and move on?

There are so many more rewarding things to discuss.
