To a certain degree we have to remember the forum is not a democracy. It's owned by Deano. If he chooses to ban someone its his privilege to do so. he works very hard to keep a certain "atmosphere" on the forum. I dont always agree with his decisions, but it is his forum and its a really nice place to meet and chat with like minded people.

I should probably add that even when I disagree with a Mod decision I am never in any doubt that they do what they do for the good of the forum.

He was also selling fake Padron samplers, or taking the piss out of people with his sales thread. He was then very disrespectfull to the mods who tried to sort the situation.

If not he may well have some social and possibly mental health issues, in the way that he was interacting with others.

His language and prose really didn't indicate that, but then again it also said he didn't smoke cigars.

I am glad he's gone though, was a bit of unwelcome distraction from everyday business on the forum.

I read from a distance and didnt post on anything he'd either posted or commented on, but at times it did smack a bit of if you dared disagree with the established posters, then he was a pariah. Ok, sometimes he was a bit "choice" in the way he got his point across, but that happens in real life. Maybe I missed some of the more "deflamatory" ones, but thats just my 2p's worth. Couldn't care if he was banned, he didnt do anything for me, its just the reaction from most people made me think

I think that is the main point to be honest. It might be "our" place to come but at the end of the day it is Deano who is running the ship and if he doesnt like the people on board he can jettison where needed without having to justify his decision.

Bwgan, you make an interesting point and it is always the same on boards where there is an established community and it is exactly the same in any group/pub/club around the world. If a new member joins up and starts abusing the established members they will get beaten down.

Most people can tolerate a disagreement to their views but their reaction is mostly based around the way the disagreement is put to them. WITW seems to have had a major chip on his shoulder and blatently told lies (about the cigar smoking). The age thing is also a bit curious..

I suspect in at least some of those cases, some of WITW's more inflammatory posts had been edited or removed by a mod.

Good and valid points Bwgan, just don't judge those who seem to have been 'put out' by WITW.

What sat poorly with me was also the disconnect between his initial posts as someone who was interested in cigars but didn't smoke, (cool with me if a little odd) to suddenly becoming veteran cigar expert who had stuff to sell.

If you're going to be a member of this community, at least be upfront and honest.

I am in no way part of the establishment, having only been a member since July (either in life or these forums) but quite often felt a little uncomfortable with his conduct.

To get all analogous, it was like being in a comfortable, quiet, relaxing bar having a pint and chatting to friends, and then someone uncouthly breaks into the conversation, exclaims they have no knowledge of the subject, and then starts telling people that they're wrong and is rude to boot.

If anyone thinks this chap was wrongly banned, have a read through all his posts.
If you still feel that way have a chat with Deano or the Mods, I may have been wrong in my views of WITW, it might be the case as Bwgan said that we may have misjudged him. In all honesty I think Deano did the right thing in banning him.
Selling fake smokes to BOTL and then being abusive to mods is a step too far.

I've had disagreements with other BOTL on this forum, but they have always been polite, courteous and sadly for me, disturbingly well informed.

I've learnt an awful lot in the last few months, and am really grateful to all those that continue to impart their wisdom and knowledge to those like myself who are still on the path of the puro.

I'm sure if WITW feels left out (Can't he read all this as a guest?) he could always rejoin with a new user name and join in with the forums in a way that doesn't make people feel the way he did before?

As Aussie said early on, he was probably a wind up merchant, so couldn't we just draw a veil over these incidents, close this thread and move on?

There are so many more rewarding things to discuss.

He posted constant inflammatory crap ...fvck him, if it were down to me he would have been banned in days not weeks. He contributed nothing except trouble.

Disagreeing with the established posters is not an issue on here (we do it all the time), being just damn rude, aggressive and antagonistic whilst contributing nothing is. I mean even his name was antagonist/creepy. I imagine he is jacking off right now even reading that we care enough to discuss him.
