Lo all,
Found this marvellous forum in my travels and signed up immediatly, you seem like a very knowledgeable, friendly band of folk so I thought this would be a great place to learn more about cigars.
I would say I've only recently made the decision to do so , but they've always been in my life one way or another. Me and a friend used to nick my Dad's cigars on occasion, smoking them in a ridiculously out of the way location. He had no humidor so the things were drier than Jack Dee, but I did still enjoy them.
Like many folk I never even considered a cigar could be more than something like Hamlet ( I know, I know ), but after buying some fake Cohibas from the Dominican Republic recently ( they actually weren't bad ) I got a sense of the care and passion behind it all and wanted to be a part of that.
By utter fluke I now own a fairly capable budget humidor; has a good air seal, cedar wood interior, etc, though I knew nothing about these things at the time I bought it! Also recieved my first serious purchase the other day, eleven singles from SimplyCigars ( before I saw Monty's prices, d'oh! ). My Dad is also pretty happy as he's recieved some karmic cushioning with a birthday gift of four cigars. He actually doesn't know too much himself, though he does now own a humidor, so he's excited to try them out and I look forward to broadening our palates together.
Thank you all for having me!
