  • Newbie from dorset - Hi

    Well Hi all,
Thought I should ome forward shove my hand up and say hello been reading through the forums for a few days now..
Anyway here I am hidden away in deepest darkest Dorset, so a bit about myself.. I am Joe, other than a new found love of Cigars I am a freediver and spearfisherman with a huge love of the sea, seafood.. oh and single malt whiskey!
I have not long returned from my honeymoon in Cuba.. hence the love of cigars I managed to get quite caught up in the whole culture etc there. We stayed in Playa Pesquaro (sp?) but I managed to fit in a cigar factory tour and a trip to Havanna.. loved it all!
Anyway now I am back im on the look out for a cheap but stylish humidor.. swmbo says if I am having one in the house it has to be nice to look at! and hopefully filling it with a nice selection of cigars.. Im not a regular smoker, maybe one a week (well I hope to be!) Only had one since I returned as what few cigars I did manage to bring home are awaiting their new home!
As for what I returned with..
Cohiba Esplendiso's (no not in a glass top box from the beach )
    Cohiba siglo 2
    partagas serie D P4
    partagas deluxe
    Monte cristo no4
    monte cristo petit tubos
    Romeo Juliet churchills

Well what have I enjoyed so far.. the Esplendisos were nice, very nice but too pricey! I have also tried a partagas deluxe which was much more flavoursome (I think) and I really enjoyed.. looking forward to a P4 now and last night I had the monte cristo petit tubos.. not such a fan if I am honest the first half was very spicy/strong but I persevered and the second half was rather good!

Looking forward to trying some more, learning a whole lot more and maybe building a little collection to enjoy and to age.. guessing I will be a singles man, smoking few and far between I think i'll enjoy the choice between different flavours and styles.. not to mention they will look nice!

So hello and good smoking, hope to hang around a good while.

    Joe

Welcome along Joe. Got yourself a decent selection for starters.
An ex Lobster Fisherman and seafood lover myself, hard to beat a good meal, good wine, a nice malt and kicking back relaxing with a fine Cuban and the sound of the sea.

Welcome to the forum, for humidors have a look at our sponsor for some nice ones although a little pricey, also keep an eye out on ebay and your local gumtree, some real bargains to be had.

P.S. nice (and expensive) way to start on cigars

            Welcome aboard Joe!

A very nice little selection to get started with. A couple of big boys in there too, with the Esplendido and Churchill. You clearly enjoy spending time to appreciate something. I think you'll fit right in.

Welcome, just leave your credit card at the door.

If you don't have your humi yet then just send me your smokes and I'll look after them for you.

If Eggy says the same don't believe him he'll smoke 'em all before the postman has left the drive. I won't - honest!

Welcome, the sponsor is doing a deal on a seconds humi at the moment. I put a thread on it in the humidor and accessories bit. Check it out.
