  • Newbie from Oxfordshire

    Hi All,

A Geordie living in Oxfordshire signing In!

My dad smoked cigars when I was a young lad (I'm only 25 now :P) and the smell of a cigar is unbeatable for me. A year or two ago I bought a selection of cuban cigars but I didn't really know what I was buying and pretty much wasted them.

I want to try again. I'm thinking of buying a small humidor and if you guys could give me 5 or 6 recommendations to get me started that would be ace.

I don't know if I'm allowed to ask here but I'll mention that if any one has a small humidor for sale I'd be interested in taking a look.

    Cheers

    Phil

Welcome! My recommendations would be to just buy a selection of brands in the Petit Corona size, to get an idea of the flavour profile and strength. Do you smoke cigarettes normally? If not, you might be wise to stay away from Partagas or Bolivar for your first few.

Have a look in my signature about Buying and Selling here.

          Hi and welcome.

Lots of humi ideas on Ebay. Standard advice with first Humis is by far bigger than you ever imagine you need (i.e. if you think you want 10-20 stick capacity look for 50-100).

Welcome aboard Phil--you'll get a lot of great recommendations. Daverave999 is right--be careful about the strong ones. Still, my early joys were these:

            Montecristo no. 4
            Montecristo no. 2
            Partagas serie d. 4
            Partagas shorts
            Hoyo de Monterrey epicure. 2

But there are so many! You might want to get a cheap journal, go to your tobacconist, and sit down and write down your thoughts as you smoke. Who knows, you might just write the next great novel.

Welcome to the forum, there are a few of us just down the A34 in the Southampton/Portsmouth area. To add to the recommendations i'd add some Romeo y Julieta, nice and mild to ease you in gently. Also keep and eye on ebay, lots of rubish usually but you find a few good bargains there (Ebay humidor)
