  • Recomend cigars to a newbie.

    Hello

Im quite new to the world of cigars. I started smoking hamlet which seem ok but I generally like things stronger rather than milder. I baught some king edwards coronets and dint like the taste they left in the mouth. I have some henri wintermans slims which I think are ok and I got a henri wintermans corona de luxe which is probably my favourite so far. Im not sure whether its the width of it that made it better. Hamlet reserve are my favourite of the hamlets and they have decient width. I currently have a punch coronation for when I get some time this weekend but gather theyre also quite mild.

Anyway I'd like to try some really strong aromatic cigars and would appriciate some recomendations.

Hey Dionysus, how about an intro about yourself in the thread for newbies, so we have a 'taste' of whats to come.. oh welcome anyway and there are plenty out there to tempt your taste buds.. have a look at our Hosts website for starters, theres a good ground to climb from..

The first step would be to get yourself a small humidor to keep your cigars in ideal conditions. A tupperdor is also a good option for a newbie instead of the humidor.

Then start picking your cigars, you might want to go for a more premium hand made range to get better tastes from your smoke.

        Welcome Dionysus!

I moved your thread to the Newbie greets section so you can just tell us a little about yourself right here. We're glad you joined the forum and I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions on great cigars after we learn a little bit about who you are. Cheers!

          Hi

Hi all. Im a 27 yr old cigar newbie from yorkshire. A college student starting uni later this year hopefully. I like growing bonsai and collecting Japanese viewing stones 'suiseki' to display alongside them.

Ive always smoked cigs but figured theyre kinda crap and since I stopped drinking I figured Id find something else to relax with and figured cigars fit the bill.

ARGH! I did that and then noticed this thread had been moved there.

Any chance of the threads being merged?

I study pottery to make dishes for my bonsai and I seem to remember dell boy having a dog shaped pot for cigars. Any chance I could make something?

Do cigars that come in wrappers and tubes still need humidors?

Welcome to the forum. I started growing Bonsai when I was 8 years old. Very lucky in that my grandads next door neighbour was a long time member of the National Bonsai Society in Southport. I joined and grew my trees for over 20 years upto competition level, growing from seed, buying in field stock and collecting yamadori. About 4 years ago, while on holiday, vandals broke into my garden and smashed them all too pieces, including my Gorden duffet pots, all in all about 500 trees. I couldn't bring myself to start again, though my wife keeps trying to get me to go back to the club

Hope you enjoy it here, and if you ever want to discuss bonsai, give me a shout
