  • Hi Everyone

I felt the need to introduce myself on this fine forum, after spending a while lurking and gleaning some great info! I'm from Essex, and have recently got very into cigars after years of smoking them occaisionally and finally looking to ditch my cigarette habit due to recent wedded bliss/generally not wanting to be disgusting etc. As far as other interests, I like guitars and music, the odd bit of fishing (Carp) if I have time, and generally enjoy hanging out with the new wife.

I mainly prefer the smaller cigars - particular current favourites are Upmann's Corona Juniors (the first cigar I ever fell in love with a couple of years ago), ERDM Tres Petits which I am fairly new to but am becoming an increasing fan, and the odd Cohiba Secreto when i'm feeling flash. I also have a soft spot for Villiger Exports and Minis if i'm looking for a cheap, quick smoke. These seem to be getting a lot of use of late due to the previously mentioned cigarette embargo.

Generally, i'll give anything a go providing I have the time to enjoy it, though, so please feel free to baffle me with recommendations (especially things i'm unfamiliar with, like the Punch and Partagas cigars). I have just ordered a new starter Humi as my old homemade tupperware job isn't really cutting it anymore, so obviously I want to fill the little begger up in the near future.

Sorry for banging on, thanks for all your informative posts, they've been very helpful to me!

Welcome to the forum, hope your wife is very understanding when the time comes for a big humi and the need to fill it.

      welcome,

quite a few guitarists on the forum, what styles do you play?

may i start by saying three things:

      partagas short
      hoyo petit robusto
      el rey del mundo demi-tasse

my current holy trinity of small cigars (although the hoyo PR can last 40mins+

Greetings from State of Mind, Mexico!

Welcome to the show, senor JD. Nice intro post

Stepping up from tupperware....a fine first step on your journey in the magical world of puros.

Names Perro, el Perro, and I do the posting around these parts while TJ and the familia Coro are on their journey through the dark sea of awareness.

Bienvenida JD. They call me Juggler Boy....and if you have an interest in juggling your balls, I'm the hombre to see.

Thanks for the welcomes! Fortunately, my wife is pretty understanding so far (only been married a week, ehehehe) but she has put up with living with me for quite some time now. She has even said I can use her tobaccco allowance for cigars when we come back from our Mexican honeymoon, which has been delayed until next month due to the ash! Bless her.

Lascaux, thanks for the recommendations! I will check them out. I can drag out a Tres Petit for 45 minutes, so i'm sure the Hoyo would make a nice evening chuff for me!
As for guitar... when i'm at home I play what can only be described as a Bill Frisell jamming with Jim Campilongo kind of thing. I started taking jazz quite seriously a couple of years ago, so that's pretty much my default style now. I have a regular jam with a mate where we rawk out just to de-stress from work, and it's kind of Soundgarden-esque. Obviously i'm nowhere near as proficient as you, but I find it takes my mind off things.

Be careful as there are a lot of fakes flying about in Mexico.

Aye. LCDH shops are the only place I'd buy from.

Welcome JD and congrats on your recent marriage

Welcome to the only place like this on earth . This is the only passion I have ever come across where people have money to burn. LMAO

Welcome aboard--and enjoy Mexico; that's where my wife and I took our honeymoon, and, no less, where I discovered cubans.

                          Welcome!

                          Congrats on the marriage!

I agree that you should only buy your puros in an LCDH while in Mexico.
