  • Hi folks

    Good evening folks!!

Well I'm a newbie to the forum obviously and have been smoking cigars for a few years. Used to pick up lots of local cigars from all over the world on my travels, but only recently bought myself a humidor and decided to get some decent cigars.

I only smoke cigars and pipe on occasion and never touch cigarettes (don't like em).

I shall look forward to chatting with you all and learning as much as I can!!

Any tips and advice would be great!! Oh while I've got your attention, what would be a good cigar to buy in bulk, say 20 or so to use to keep the humidor looking healthy, but not cost too much? something mild - medium would be perfect!

    Thanks in advance folks!

    Kindest regards

    Bigmac

    Welcome, Bigmac!

A good mild-medium smoke that doesn't cost too much would be ERDM Choix Supreme.

          Welcome along BigMac.
Agree with the Dawg re the ERDM Choix, but really would say it first of all depends what size of cigar you are after, so won't make any other suggestions just yet.
You'll get plenty info on here anyway so just sit back and wait.

Welcome bigmac, as eggopp said you could really try some sample first, as there are different people with different tastes

                    Hey Mac
Nice to have another representative from the People's Republic of Free Scotland here.

The guys are right that a sampler pack is one way to start but there is no substitute for a face to face conversation with a real expert.

In London we have personalities like Edward Sahakian at Davidoff and Jean at JJ Fox who will spend time with you, ask you many questions to establish your preferences and then make suggestions and take feed back to learn more about your pallet.

This is a great experience and a great way to learn about cigars so if you live near a decent tobacconist my suggestion is get to know him/her and get suggestions on a few singles to try.

Also, herf with a few of the boys if you get a chance, always good to share stories with the boys and find out what they suggest and which cigars they are enjoying.

                    What could be nicer?
                    Nic

                        Welcome, Bigmac!

Another good mild-medium smoke would be SLR Regios.

folks, thanks for the warm welcome and all the advice. The sampler pack I have just now contains 1 x Partagas Series D No 4, 1 x Romeo y Julieta Belicosos, 1 x Hoyo de Monterrey Epicures No. 2, 1 x Montecristo Edmundo (new size) & 1 x Cuaba Generosos, I picked it up from simply cigars as I never knew about the c.gars place everyone is talking about at the time.

To answer Lionhounds question, most of my cigar smoking takes place after a big meal or at a special occaision. So I don't go for anything too large as i don't want to rush through it. Maybe something mid sized. I'll be looking over the samplers on that site tonight and hopefully something will catch my eye. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions too, I'll give them a bash!!

Welcome bigmac. I have to agree with JDawg, the ERDM are a nice smoke and will not break the bank.
