    hi ho people...

greets from sunny harrogate in n. yorkshire

Found this lovely site while trying to hunt for things to go into my new humidor (just a small 75 one)

I came to cigars after I stopped smoking cigarettes, had the craving for smoke driving me nuts, ended up being given a tin of cafe creme (i know ) and 5 tubed Cuban samples.....I found that a weekly corona/robusto kept the smoke craving away (and is slightly healthier, i think, honest )...any excuse really

so after months of keeping cigars in humi pouches, ive finally bought a humidor and am looking for nice things to put in it....though this will most likly be one of the cuban cigar samplers from one of the nice suppliers.

ive found choosing cigars to be a bit like being a kid in a candy store.....god help me
I want to try one of everything.......

    So any recomendations....any must haves/must tries ?

Welcome aboard ctrl--you've come to the right place and be prepared to get your wallet out!

I'll leave it to others with more experience to give you suggestions, but you might want to indicate what sort of strength of cigar you like--mild, medium, or full--and which ones you had if you recall.

But perhaps the best move is to keep sampling, post the ones you liked, and then you'll get a barrage of suggestions. I know I have a list that I'm working through as the bank account allows.

Being fairly new im still experimenting, hence my thought for getting one of the larger sampler packs....
Currently prefer milder cigars tbh, but then my taste is new to this
Really trying to find the odd single that must be tried....

      So far list includes -
      Trinidad Reyes
      Nub (sample pack)

Here are the ones that blew my mind, though my taste tends towards the fuller range:

          Partagas D4
          Ramon Allones Specially Selected
          Montecristo 2
          Romeo y Julieta Exhibition 4

A really nice, mild cigar that you might want to try is:
          Hoyo de Monterrey epicure 2

Hi there. Yep, whatever humi you've got you tend to fill it.
I went for a ride round your neck of the woods on sunday. Very nice.

                Re: newb in yorkshire

I would have to second the endorsement of the Epicure No. 2. Damn fine cigar from where I'm sitting and perfect for a young smoker.

If you want to try something a bit more full bodied then you've gotta look to the Bolivar Royal Corona. Pretty much 'the' go-to cigar for me and a legendary Cuban.

As tempting as it is to buy in boxes, if you're just starting out then it's well worth experimenting with singles. Try and get a bit of everything. Try different sizes, brands and hence, flavour profiles.

Best of luck and welcome aboard

Welcome to the forum ctrl...suggestions so far have been really good and perhaps if you get a chance you could also try the Juan Lopez selection number 2 and the really good Por Laranaga petit coronas

I'll have to third the Epi 2.

Interestingly, my preferences run towards a cigar that will spit in your eye and try to make off with your wife. Give me a big, fat manly stogie with some punch that leaves entrails in its wake.

The Epi 2 is none of these things. But damned if it doesn't deliver as a consistently smooth, creamy, tasty smoke that I have found burns like a dream, has an almost perfect draw, and leaves behind a pleasant odo(u)r. I would gladly smoke one of these any time.

The only other suggestion offered you that I will comment on is the Monte No. 2: A profoundly satisfying smoke if you get a good one and a maddeningly frustrating experience if you get one too tightly rolled. Unfortunately, there are inexcusably too many of the second kind, even though the majority of them are of the first. For the price, getting a bum one should be a much rarer exception.

                    Otherwise, welcome aboard from abroad.

Hi Ctrl, welcome along. Some good suggestions there. Would agree with Boli RC, D4, RASS and Epi 2 also for shorter smokes try the Trinidad Reyes, the Partagas Shorts and the Juan Lopez Petite Corona.
