Ah, an analytic philosopher. I've worked in the continental tradition, and I'm a fan of Kant, particularly the Critique of Judgment. Not so into ethics either, though I suppose you've got to know it to do philosophy proper. Good luck with the funding.

Yeh I do enjoy the continental stuff. Nietzsche, Deleuze, Kierkegaard.

It certainly gives you time to ponder life... at least that's what I use the time for. Asking those pertinent why questions, then coming up with vaguely interesting answers...
