Welcome mate, i'm also spitting distance from you (gosport) we should defiantly arrange something locally as there are a few of us in this neck of the woods, keep meaning a arrange a poker game in my smoking room (Well garage)!?I have to laugh when I think of the first cigar, because it was probably just a bunch of rolled up tobacco leaves?

Dam, i didn't realise so many of you where so close, I'm in Gosport actually but normally you say Gosport and and people respond where is that, say Portsmouth and everyone goes ahhhhh failed football team lol. Now i just have to resist the urge to herf too often. How often is too often btw?
Snooky - you probably have everything planned but the better half has just been told about citybreak.co.uk, good prices for a hotel and flight all thrown in. She is looking for a romantic weekend away, i'm sure i could squeeze in a nice meal between cigar shopping lol. I visited a few years ago with work and ended up buying cigarette at fantastic prices. I've been online checking prices and UK prices seem to be 200-300% above the Gib prices so i guess it is only polite to buy 2-3 times as many i guess.
jpmoore - I'm liking the idea of poker, not played much texas 5 cards stud but an excuse to smoke cigars is always good to keep in the back pocket, plus beginners luck and fine cigars make good company i hope. In the summer, or as soon as it gets warm, i plan on building my own shed to make best use of a strange shaped end of the garden. I'm thinking more along the lines of a timber cabin, wiring it up for electricity and turning it into a cigar smokers paradise. At least that is the plan, something definatley with heating for when the weather gets cold again.

Funny you should say that. I have a little beer fridge similar to the one below that i'm thinking of using as a cigar box humidor. I've taken the wire shelf out and i think cigar boxes staked up in front of the glass will look very smart with the humidification devices hidden and sat at the back on the shelf above the compressor motor. I just can't decide to line the inside with ideally spanish cedar (hard to find), some other sheeting like some nice plywood or just leave it bare, decisions decisions. Then i'll just have to decide where it is going to reside so that i can look at my beautiful cigars through the glass.

Welcome onboard Dave. Sounds like you have been well & truely bitten by the bug. Spent yrs based at RNH Haslar (certianly felt like yrs anyway) & HMS Nelson as well as passing through on ships so know Pompey well. It's been 20yrs now but I can't think off hand of any pubs with suitable grds to be considered Cigar friendly these day, in the city/dockarea. Any recommendations (besides wedding venues).Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.
