  • Hello from Portsmouth

    Hello all,
I've been lurking here for some time so i thought i would drop a line and say hi. I'm not a big smoker but it's growing on me, started last summer at a wedding when offered a cigar, treated myself to a nice 100 cigar humidor for Christmas and now kicking myself i should have got a bigger one. Already planning to take my better half to Gibraltar to show her the sites and for her tobacco allowance as well lol.

As a newbie i'm leaning towards your milder cigars although over the colder winter i found a stronger cigar with a little more punch than usual certainly warms you up on a night walk with the dog.

I've already got bitten by the bug hard, finding excuses such as weddings in the summer to buy some nice cigars now like RyJ Churchills and some Cohiba Siglo IIs to be treated right in the humidor before enjoyed.

Anyway must get back to reading some more threads, so many cigars, so little time. Nice meeting you all.

    Dave.

      Hi, welcome aboard.

Always amazed at how many people say they find out about good cigars at weddings.

      Enjoy the forum.

          Hi Dave
Great introduction, in no time at all you will be onto your fourth (German) humidor and banging about the huge Partagas like an old hand!

Nice to have you join us here. Chip in no one will bite you (except that crazy Mexican and he's just toothless these days)

Thanks for the warm welcome although i expected nothing less. I'll try to come up with a few original questions but after a little bit of searching the forum most of my questions have been answered.

One quick one, does anyone put your other halfs best towels over your humidor in the colder months just to help insulate and stop vast fluctuations in temperature? Afterall i seem to be treating my better sticks like little children and well you wouldn't let a child get cold in bed while they sleep now would you or do you have any other tricks to keep you humidors in tip top condition temperature wise. I've moved my humidor upstairs to the bedroom so i can sleep knowning that they are safe and stay a little warmer over night.

                  This is perfectly normal, right???

I can't say I have used the wife's best towels to cover my humidor Dave.

Seeing as how I usually go to bed first,I don't think it would be in my best interest

                      Welcome, Dave!

                      good to have you here...

Don't worry! It is normal to become a bit obsessed with your gars. We all do.

I wouldn't stress too much over them. As long as you maintain proper humidity levels, and prevent vast fluctuation in temps, you should be fine.

                              Hi Dave,
I went through the same thing as you, it seems you never have enough room to store cigars. Welcom to the forum.
Mike: Neil, it is very rare you interest me, but today you have. Why do you keep coming in here, carrying a cake, and saying surprise?
                              Neil: It's my birthday.
Mike: Now you knew that anyway, and we don't care, so where's the surprise? The Young Ones
