Picture the scene if you will.
May, 2008. A beach-front bar in South Beach, Miami.
The massive Mojitos have kicked in. England seems but a distant memory.
Then I see her. Gliding towards me. Olive skin, dark hair. Possibly Cuban, I think.
What's that? Would I like a smoke? No, think I. I gave up ciggies 10 years ago.
But something's pulling me. The tray laid out before me. The names mean nothing to me. A cigar catches my eye. The word Cohiba stares back at me and I think what the hell. I'm on holiday got dammit!
And that's where it all began.
Needless to say it was a fake, I didn't know how to smoke it properly and it kept going out. As introductions to cigars go it wasn't pretty. I felt sick after half an hour, inhaling probably didn't help.
But strangely, tho' I didn't know it at the time, I was hooked.
Fast forward to this summer and I bought the odd cuban cigar and now, as of this week, I have my first humidor.
So, this is me saying hello to all and hoping I haven't bored anyone with my first post!
Cheers
Jono
