Thankfully, most of the time I was on board they were doing exercises around Instow. During the week they were aboard though, I managed to brief the ship's captain and use the previous colonel's name...

Use the previous name? I do not follow you...

I had to brief the Captain on the day's happenings. Unfortunately, because the Marines had only just arrived aboard I hadn't had chance to find out much about them (other than the fact that they'd just arrived back aboard...) So, needing to refer to the Colonel, I checked the details on the ship's system. However... 4 ASRM, the squadron embarked, had only recently changed commanding officer, and the ship's system hadn't been updated. So I looked a bit of a plonker (especially as he was sat all of a foot away from me... ).

Hi Clever Trevor (and your smoking mate who slipped in there so save another newbie thread), you appear to have been piped aboard, nice to have you here, just watch out for Able Seamen Chico from the Mexican Navy and his tales of the Golden Rivet!

I too love Boisdale, great spot, just can't think why more people haven't done what they have.

If you are heading up for the Herf why not slip moorings a little earlier and join us for the Cuban Cigar Walk London on the 19th starting at 10.00 in Bond Street.

              Pip pip

Thanks for the invite but James and I did the walk on our own a few weeks back.

The Audio Walk is extremely useful when crossing the road - i honestly believe that if it were not for the direction it gave in crossing the road - i would have been stuck in Bond Street for the whole day! Just to give you a hint:

"Step up to the road.... look left.....look right.... listen..... look left..... look right...... listen.....now pause me so that you may cross the road safely - if you need walking instructions - please leave the mp3 playing............ Left foot... right foot... left foot... right foot..."

                  Not quite - but almost.

I'm trying to remember the seaman's "hotel" in Plymouth. Was it Aggie Westons? I see to remember staying the night there a few times when I was with the RFA.....

Hey all, I am BACK! Been away for months, maybe more, time flies. I made some good friends (and lost a few) on this site so it deserves some attention, I have been remiss in that for too long.

So what have I missed? How many of the people I used to know on here are still regulars, let's get talking again.
