You've just reminded me to pick some more of these up. They are great little cigars.

Good on you, chico! You’ve stumbled onto an interesting subject and one of much debate. The general rule for aging/ resting a cigar, based on what I’ve read in the UKCF archives, the google, and the don’s journals, is to allow your sticks to rest a minumum of one year (after rolling/box date) before enjoying.

Now, you might be saying to yourself, “One year? Why the F should I have to wait so f’ing long to enjoy a puro that I just bought! Muy Loco!”

Well, you are not alone, amigo. Most knewbees around these parts ask the same questions when starting out. I know I did after I purchased my first box only to find the sticks inside were unsmokable due to their youth.

        So let’s explore.

According to most chemical engineers and experts, the one-year waiting period is necessary due to moisture introduced during the rolling process. As a result, a freshly rolled cigar enters the so-called “sick period” after a few weeks and begins to ferment (again), which results in a nasty amonia smell/taste. And according to these same experts, as well as the don, over 90% of this nastiness is expelled during the first year.

So, I guess this is why a freshly rolled stick can be enjoyed immediately, but becomes completely unsmokable after a few weeks...unless you enjoy the taste/smell of cat piss!

About ?150 in a shop called Gesto in Geneva. Glasgow to Geneva return on Easyjet from around ?65. Go figure. They don't ship to the UK so don't try to order online.

Good tip! how many could you bring back without the customs officers sniffing like a pack of wild dogs and then keeping you in cell for the night

Switzerland is not in the EU so legally you can bring back 50 cigars each
