    Hi there

My name is Tom, and I am new to cigars. I have been enjoying a few using the "humidified bag" storage solution but have decided to actualy buy a humidor and get started properly.
I'm hoping to purchase a 150 to 200 count humidor, so please make a suggestion if you have any

I'm interested in both Cuban and Non Cuban cigars and the reason I am going for a slightly larger humidor than needed is because everyone seems to upgrade, and I figure there's no harm in starting the aging process early

So about me. First, I've been stalking you all. I've been lurking in the shadows of this forum for a while, enjoying your discussions and absorbing information, so thanks for everything I have learned from you all I'm 20 years old, so just a kid in the scheme of things. Unless I die at 24, in which case I'm getting old I was studying Media Technology at De Montfort university, but left during my second year as I was unhappy with the long term prospects, and was sick of the lazy student lifestyle. I now work as a mobile patrol and alarm response officer in security, which is ok work while I think more thoroughly about my future - I wont be rushing back into education again. The 60 hour week is better than the lazy student lifestyle I loathed.
My main hobby/lifestyle choice is body modification. I have piercings of all sizes, I've been branded, dermal punched, tattooed, scalpeled, and had subdermal silicone implants. Its very important to me, and I moderate a very busy forum on the subject.

Really looking forward to experiencing more cigars, though I only get the chance to once or twice a week. I'm hoping my palate will develop and mature to expand my enjoyment not only of cigars, but of other foods and beverages too.

Anyways, hello all! You seem like a nice bunch so I thought it was time to say 'ello.

Favorite Cuban so far: Partagas Lusitania
Favorite Non Cuban so far: Perdomo Toro Maduro

    Kind regards to all!

    Hi Tom

    Welcome to the forums...

Great introduction, ebay is always a good starting point for the first humidor as they are usually reletively cheap or you could check out www.humidoro.de this is where I purchased my humidors from and I know a few of the guys on here have also purchased from here. (very good humidors at very reasonable prices)

Great favourite cigars so far, have you tried the Partagas 8-9-8...?

Anyway enough from me, look forward to reading/responding to your posts in the near future...

    Regards, HabanoSy

Hi HabanoSy, thanks for the welcome

I did have my eye on one of the humidors on that site, which is in this link:

Partly because it looks nice to be honest, and I appearance matters if its going to be very visible!

I haven't tried an 8-9-8 yet, but its definately on my list. I know that Simply Cigars are selling aged singles, so might be tempted to go for that. I'm definately trying the Serie D No.4 as well at some point.

I'm going to run into one problem, which is that I want to try different types without committing to buying loads of the same cigar. I know I can get singles on the English sites, but its very expensive. I don't earn a massive salary (though not awful by any means), so I'll take it slowly haha.

      Cheers mate!

Hi there! Welcome to the show.
Glad to see you've listened to the oft-quoted advice of 'Buy larger' with respect to a humidor. It's easier to fit 20 into a 300 count than it is the other way round!

            Hi guys,

Deano, if I'm completely honest, that was about 6 months ago and I was basically looking for something that had a poser element to it. Hands up, I are a nob haha. But it turned out that I really enjoyed it. The only other cuban of similar-ish size I have had is a RyJ Churchill, which I didn't enjoy nearly as much.

Dave, I like your rule! As I figure, if I get a larger one and it takes me ages to fill it, then its no big deal. Like I said, I don't get the chance to have a cigar often, so if I do fill it, they can just sit and age until I get round to lighting up.

Hi Monkey, welcome to the forum.

It may be worth looking at some of the sampler deals that are available. They are reasonable value for money and will give you a chance to try different brands and sizes. That way you may stumble across something you really like, or at worst find out what you really don't like.

                Hi Paulie,

Thats a good idea actually. I remember topcubans doing some decent ones so I'll go have a poke around there - thanks

Also, because Non Cubans will have to make up a larger proportion of my "regular" cigars due to budget, I find the "Grab Bags" on Atlantic Cigar handy. I think I will buy cubans with an eye to smoke them when I've got time to sit and relax, and justify their added cost, rather than taking something to casually enjoy on one of my shifts (naughty, naughty ).

Biggest limitation on spare time is the missus lol. I get 2 nights off per week, and naturally I want to spend my spare time with her, but she hates anything smoke, so I wont touch cigars if I'm seeing her. I occasionally (used to constantly) smoke shisha, which she also hated. And I must confess I also smoke cigarettes at work, though they must be hand rolled with Drum tobacco, for the flavour. I wont touch anything else.

Certainly worth taking the time to savour the enjoyment, rather than just 'something to do'. If you're looking for cheaper options, there are a few Cuban brands (Jose L. Piedra, Flor de Cano, etc.) that you may find acceptable for those 'casual' smokes.

Hello Tom, when you have a cigar, does all the smoke come out of your piercings?
