  • Newbie in London

    Hello everyone,

I'm a London based cigar lover on a budget. I've always admired cigars and a few years ago I finally got the chance to get into them. A buddy in China started smoking them, we placed an order for a few packs of Factory Throwouts No. 59 from the US and he passed on his older humidor to me along with some Boveda packs. Those cigars are long gone but the hobby has grown. We meet on occasion when our paths cross and he shares some nicer cigars with me. I tried many of the budget cigars available at shops in China, picked up a few boxes in the Philippines and currently fill my humidor with abacos El Guajiro and Brevas de Alvaro when I visit a tobacconist Barcelona.

I currently have a 1 year old and no balcony so I don't have the chance to enjoy cigars as much as I did when I lived in Asia, thanks to British weather. As I smoke less often and finances are tight I'm looking into moving my sticks to a tupperdor.

I joined primarily for advice but would love to meet up with locals when the weather is favorable.

    Cheers,
    Silk

Welcome! London has many secrets and I'm sure someone here might be able to help with a great location to enjoy a rare smoke and a chat.

Thanks everyone, I recently was very fortunate to be invited to a private cigar lounge for a 'rare smoke and brief chat' in Beijing.
I've been to a couple of restaurants that have cigar lounges in London but haven't gone in one yet.

Bringing your own stick would bring cost the down substantially, I assume that I would only need to order a glass of scotch in that case?
I was very fortunate in Beijing that it was an 'open bar', otherwise it would have been far over my budget as a grad student.

Welcome to the forum from another Southerner. Plenty of good advice to be found here, but best of luck not getting drawn in to increasing your cigar budget!
