  • Hello from East Yorkshire

    Evening all,

I haven't read any other threads in the newbie section so i'll do mine as i see fit.

I'm a fairly new cigar smoker, roughly 2 years, the latter of those two being more consistent and serious than the first.

I'm based in East Yorkshire near Hull (a very dim cigar scene here with no real tobacconist).

I work offshore on a gas rig as an instrumentation technician so i have PLENTY of free time for a stick or two.

Got a VERY basic humidor as i usually place an order whilst offshore and when back on land i get through them rather quickly... maybe too quickly!!

Going to work on converting a lockable pressed metal box into a humi (lining it with cedar) soon so i will probably make a thread detailing that project.

Any questions feel free to ask, i pride myself in my approach-ability.

Oh and one last thing - if you see me posting something dumb... tell me! I take criticism very well so good luck offending me

    Chris

        Evening Chris,

Great to see another Yorkshire chap on board - there may be enough of us soon to perhaps herf like a lot of those lucky southern brethren can on here! I also feel your pain regarding tobacconists; York (which in my head would be the perfect location for a quaint smoking joint) only has the one, and this is pretty much a glorified e-smoking centre. Judases

Also, like yourself, i have only recently fallen into the wonderful world of cigars, and i can confirm that a wonderful rich and diverse source of information and community there is to be had on this forum.

Any particularity smokes that have really tickled your buds?

        Greg

              Hi gojira, mcdee, Dame, Joe.

I've been/ am a part of various forums for various different things, from computing to cycling to air rifles but this seems so far the most friendly. I'm genuinely excited to become a regular here and build a good rapport with you all. Everyone seems uber-knowledgable and passionate about cigars.
Dame, that's awesome, i love York. Hull is dominated by e-cig shops - The closest thing to cigars I can find here is a pack of cigarillos from a bargain booze shop!
Would love to see a good tobacconist come to this area!

As for cigars that have really taken my liking - CAO pilon torpedo was near perfect and was a cheap cigar at ?10 as it had great flavours and its 7x54.
Also the H.Upmann connoisseur A was great as I'm a sucker for those creamy chocolate/coffee tastes!
              Yourself?

              Chris
