Hi all

Had my first couple of cigars in the last few weeks. Started by going round a mates house who enjoys a cigar and had a cheapo cigar from Spain. Was pretty pleasant, I vape quite a fair amount but the nicotine hit from the cigar was more relaxing than that from a ciggy or the vape. I then decided to buy a monte no 4 and a partagas d4 and we had those last week. Both were nice but I preferred the size of the monte and the partagas was too strong for my mate. I was fine with it though. I've given up drinking this year so have some spare budget for getting a few cigars. Am unsure whether to to bother with a humidor or just buy a few every couple of weeks from cgars. Might get a tupperware box and some humidity packs as I'm going through duty free mid Feb.

Hello and welcome mate!

Sounds like you're making your way into the world of cigars. I wouldn't bother with a humidor. Get a Tupperware and Boveda packs and save your money for the sticks themselves for now!

If you're passing through duty free you should be able to stock up in there. Hopefully prices will be much cheaper than UK so I'd take advantage of that too.

Yea i'd second that...Use a tupperware lock and lock box, When you are ready the buy a hummi..Don't rush in to it especially as you are starting off. One thing i would say is just get the biggest lock an Lock box you can get..I..You will be amazed at how quickly it will fill up.

Yes I use humidors at home and when I am traveling for long periods I use Tupperware's, it works practically the same, even less woody aroma is given with the tupper...
Be aware that small gauge cigars come with more strength, even if you have had this experience with D4 and Montecristo N4 this is not the normal situation, D4 should be softer and mild, very silky indeed ( unless fake of course, hahahahahah)
The Montecristo N4 vitola which is the MAREVA or the CORONA are the best Vitolas ( sizes) to start. You will be able to control the increase of the strength and leave it whenever is not satisfying your taste, as the nicotine will be higher as you advance in the cigar....
