A complete newb to cigars and actually smoked my first yesterday. I tried a Trinidad Reyes.
Living pretty close to Cambridge I took a couple of hours off yesterday and popped into Robert Graham store to get some advice and with the plan of smoking my first cigar. I kind of hoped we could have a chat about various cigars for the beginner but unfortunately the guy, as nice as he was, didn't seem up for it. Anyway he chose a Trinidad for me when I said it would be my first, cut of the end and I took it downstairs to the lounge area to have a go.
I was left to my own devices to light it, which I think I messed up slightly as the first 15 mins had an odd shaped burn. By that I mean it wasn't parallel, caused by me catching part of the body with the lighter I think. I was told it would take 20 minutes to smoke, which for ?11.99 didn't seem long but fortunately it lasted me a lot longer. Talking about cost of cigars, I just checked and they sell it online at ?10.49. Is it normal to pay more in store?
I was hoping to have a drink with my cigar but apparently they cannot sell alcohol and a coffee was not available. I'm sure the experience would have been much better with a drink of some sort.
I did enjoy it and look forward to smoking a second and hopefully relaxing more with it. After doing a little reading I am considering buying a H.Upmann Coronas Junior next and trying that as it's not too big. A decent choice?
Any recommendations on a good chewing gum to help combat the long lingering tobacco taste afterwards.
Look forward to getting a little more involved in the future.
