        In the beginning...

Thanks, guys, for all the warm responses. I'll be sure to pass them along to don TJ next time I see him.

For the moment, however, you're stuck with me, Ricky Bobby, and I know absolutely NOTHING about cigars. So I hope you will bear with me and my stupid, newbie question. But first, I must make a correction to my initial post - Summer Solstice begins today, and not yesterday as I stated in my initial post. Hopefully, don TJ won't notice my bad and disqualify me from continuing on my journey for cigar knowledge.

And while I have your attention...well, except for that Cohiba IV fellow haha!...I came across a queer looking cigar in don TJ's humidor that I can't figure out. It's pointy on both ends and fat in the middle - like something I used to see hippies smoke in the 60's. I can't figure out which end to light and how to you open the other end. Should I use a something called a punch or a cigar cutter?

Also, what's an emoji? I see folks talking about them all the time but have know idea what the heck they are. Last time I was sending email on the interwebs, we used smiley faces.

I'll insert a picture of the crazy cigar here if I can figure out how to do it. In addition to cigars, I'm also new to the forum word.

Thanks in advance for your attention and assistance.

        Ricky Bobby

That's an interesting looking cigar in the cellophane wrapping in the background, perhaps you could tell me what it is.

            H'ola mi amigo..!

Contributions from the magical 'State-of-Mind' have been sorely missed..

Good to see the Coro clan getting (im)proper representation again..
(N.B. There's a minimum three smileys per post rule that must be observed at all times).

As for your oddly shaped stick..?

Can't be certain but it looks more like one of those Non Cuban suppositories to me..!

Perhaps, but I already put it back in don TJ's humidor and I only have access once a day. I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know.

Quick question for you PJ - why do some cigars have plastic wrappers and some don't? Might it have something to do with how they are stored?

Have you had a look at the website on the cigar holder, they maybe sell cigars in cellophane

If its what I hope it is, they don't sell them.

                        What's a "mystery stick," cj121?

I think that may be correct. If I can break into don TJ's humidor later today, I may pull one out to smoke and confirm your educated guess, Wigan.

Never had one myself just read up on it. Sounds a premium cigar from the description and not one of your usual dog rockets

Haha! I have no idea what you mean by "dog rockets," but I bet it's funny.

Turns out I left a plastic-wrapped pointy cigar out, so I will gladly pop my cigar cherry as soon as someone tells me which end to light and the best method to open or cut a cigar - cigar punch or cutter.

                            Much appreciated!

Okay I'll play along. First take the cigar out of the cellophane, it doesn't taste good when it burns. Cut the end nearest the label and light the other end. Remove the label before it also burns for the same reason as above.

I usually punch when they are pointy but cut the rest of the time.

I have seen them smoked by lighting the end closest the band. I have never tried and usually light the end pj suggested
