  • Introduction

    Hi.

New to the forum and relatively new to cigars in general.

    Background:
    A/S/L : 28/M/Northern Ireland (Englishman though)
Smoking experience: on and off ciggies for years. CIGARS - as with most here I'm sure have always been interested in cigars, always loved the smell, the look and everything surrounding the cigar experience. Mainly tried cafe creme and experience of "proper cigars" was mainly what you could buy in a bar or supermarket. Recently upped my game and bought some Cubans and have constructed a "tupperdor". Letting them season until it's warm enough here for me to justify sitting outside for an hour!

Here for: community, info on cigar scene in Northern Ireland, storage advice, boasting if and when I get something to brag about, cigar tasting notes, reviews etc etc.

That's about it. Looking forward to getting involved.

To kick off with my first question below is My tupperdor:
Smell is mellowing out but at first there was a strong smell coming from it with a faint hint of fishy glue (think copydex) from school. This is slowly fading but should I be concerned? Also cigars felt quite dry / crisp but are feeling less brittle, is this just a case of leaving them in to season?

Sorry for the essay and thanks for reading for those who could be bothered [emoji57]

        Welcome to the forum mate,

for the sake of a few quid, it may be worth getting a new tupperware box for your sticks, they could absorb any odours that it has, which may alter the taste.

I'm no expert but i wouldn't risk it with those sticks......nice selection mate😎👍💨💨

Thanks guys. Tupperdor was brand new and washed. Planning to air them this coming Saturday, and re wash the tupperware - would anything absorbed by cigars disappear over time?
Thanks Nubchugger thinking of buying some new world's too to smoke first and let these (hopefully) improve

            Welcome to the forum.

Before using the treasure try washing out with bicarbonate of soda. If that doesn't kill the plastic smell leave it sitting with crumpled up newspaper for a couple of days. That usually does the trick.

Hi there. For new world cigars I would highly recommend you try Padron, Oliva (especially Serie V), Arturo Fuente and Liga Privada/ Drew Estate.

Thanks! Have been looking at padron and oliva as well as the JDN Cuatro Cinco. See how buying can be the most addictive part!
