Hi all, it's been a long time coming but cut a long story short I have been a member on here for about 3 years just issues with the approval by mods but finally resolved so now I can start contributing!
I've been interested in cigars for about 5 years now, I had given up smoking fags since 1999 and never thought about taking up any kind of tobacco again but came across an article linked to a classic menswear forum which sparked my interest and really the rest is history as they say.
Smoked the odd few CC when I used to live in London in 2011 and started researching more about them ever since then. I remember smoking my first ever Partagas which happened to be the D4 in Dubai in 2012 when I was there on a business - that was the first one I remember that had a big impact on me thinking wow these Cuban rolls are good!I bought a 3 pack of Cohiba Robusto on the way back in Dubai duty free at about ?30 and thought that was a real deal considering the normal pricing on our island [emoji3]
Well, the seed was well and truly planted and was growing roots. I started reading forums and was excited and surprised at ways people get their smokes.
2013 saw my first ever box purchases on my stag in Barcelona. The 10 or so lads that came along all chipped in and paid for my trip so my money was purely all spent on cigars! Trini Reyes, Robo-T (Dearly missed) and Por Larranaga Secretos were the choices I made.
I moved to New York in March 2013 and for about the next year or so I smoked mainly non-CC due to the availability however pulled the odd CC stick from my then small collection to have every now and again or when I made trips abroad. I think even then I knew to my palate I found Cubans much more to my liking. I have however had some really good non CC like Padron (smoked one two nights ago after a Cohiba Piramides extra which was also really good).
After joining another forum based in Oz I found ways of of how others shop and procure sticks.
You could say hobby turned into obsession and time and time again I read "that humi will fill up in no time" I experienced this for myself. The 20 stick humi turned into a dry box, the 150 humi made redundant by a cooler which is now stuffed.
Anyway even though I've been living in NY for the past 3 years I will always consider myself a Brit and hence always wanted to contribute here.
Having access to at least read the threads, I caught the fact that there was a UKCF herf on the 2nd Jan which I crashed since I landed back in Blighty on New Year's Day so thought it would be great to meet new friends. To all the 7 guys it was my pleasure meeting and smoking with you all in JJFox was a very enjoyable and memorable experience. Parts of this short 2 weeker trip has made me miss living here and one part was conversation had with UKers.Glad I can put names to faces now.
Happy New Year to all on UKCF! Bit of a longer intro than usual but that's 3 years or so condensed!

A little snap shot of some of the sticks I've smoked since being back in London since last Friday. Unlikely to be smoking anymore now for at least the next week-been a damn good one!
